Working in oils and soft pastels, Susan Williamson paints en plain air
and in her studio, located on the North Shore of Massachusetts.
She has studied at the Wayne Art Center, the Pennsylvania Academy
of Fine Arts, and Scottsdale Art School on a full scholarship.
Susan’s paintings are in private collections across the United States
and Europe. They have been juried into such shows as The Pastel Society
of America’s annual Enduring Brilliance show, Essex County Greenbelt, and
the Bennington Museum's annual show. The Journal of the Veterinary Medical
Association featured her painting on the cover of its May 2016 issue.
Except for the occasional goat, her animal subjects are bovine. Only after
many visits to the farm where they reside, does Susan begin painting them.
She considers the field work essential, not only for gathering on-site information,
but, more important, to gain a deeper understanding of each individual animal.
