By Turns
By Turns presents new and recent oil paintings by two well-respected and widely collected artists, Louise Bourne and Andy Newman. Their vast exhibit histories both befit their talent and dramatize how their distinctive visions have engaged viewers across decades and regions. In By Turns, Maine artist Louise Bourne is making her Alpers Fine Art and Merrimack Valley debut. She received her BFA from the Portland School of Art (now the Maine College of Art) and her MFA from the University of Michigan. In 2011, she received a grant to study painting in Rome. We find Louise's orchestration of color nothing short of dazzling, and hope you experience a similar visual thrill in her vibrant palette and dynamic compositions. Since 1999, Alpers Fine Art's first year, Andy Newman has perennially ranked as one of our most-popular and top-selling painters. He has exhibited not only throughout the northeastern U.S., but in England, France, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Canada, and China, specifically the former Portuguese colony of Macao. On three occasions, he has had paintings juried into the prestigious Summer Exhibit of London's Royal Academy of Arts, founded in 1768. More ways to find us.
